Saffron Toms is a Midlands based Fine Artist.
Experimenting with both camera-less and camera based techniques she uses the darkroom as a means of not only creation, but also performance. Her work embodies a sense of spirituality, work is not only seen but also felt. Natural forms and the manipulation of chemical surface are used to discuss life, death and the continuum of cycles. By not fixing images they continue to develop, affected by the light of life their ever changing attributes mean that not only are they a product of the artist, but also a part.
One realises the limitless ways of seeing upon entering the darkroom. Between the space of four walls experiments are circulated by reason and reaction. The artist works on instinct alone, driven by the duty to create.
